38-Hour Course
The comprehensive 38-Hour Course of First Class Driving & Safety is designed especially for students under 18 years old. Our program allows students to initiate the classroom component at the age of 14 years and 9 months, with the driving portion to be completed upon turning 15.
Course Overvew
The 38-Hour Course is designed for students under 18 who are beginning driver education. Students may enroll at 14 years and 9 months and complete the 8 hours of state-required behind-the-wheel driving instruction upon turning 15. The program includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and eight hours of one-on-one driving with a certified instructor. The behind-the-wheel portion reinforces safe driving habits, builds confidence, and prepares students for the Louisiana Road Skills Test. Optional extra driving sessions are available at $45 per hour for students who want additional practice beyond the required training.
Class Schedule
Classroom sessions are typically held on two consecutive weekends per month, with additional classes offered during school holidays, usually completed in four consecutive days. After completing the classroom portion and passing the written knowledge test, students return approximately 4–6 weeks later to schedule their behind-the-wheel driving sessions. Families should provide their preferences for dates and times, including weekends, weekdays, mornings, or afternoons.
Payment Details
- The fees listed below cover all components of the 38-Hour Course, including classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and optional additional practice. Paying these fees ensures your student can complete each step of the course without delay and stay on track toward earning their driver’s license.
Registration Fee – $45: Reserves your seat in the classroom (non-refundable).
Classroom Fee – $100: Covers the 30-hour classroom instruction; due on the first day of class or at registration.
Behind-the-Wheel Fee – $250: Covers the state-required 8 hours of driving instruction; due before scheduling drive sessions.
Optional Extra Drive Time – $45/hour: Additional one-on-one practice available.
Optional Road Skills Test – $60: Offered through us with a familiar instructor, or free at the DMV.
